Family Resource Assistant - Bilingual Required

Job Description

 GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Family Resource Assistant is responsible for assisting clients and families with behavior management support and training. Position assists Family Resource Developers in assessing the family’s need for support, training and additional services; acts as the program liaison to community and provider agencies; and provides crisis intervention as assigned. In addition, the Family Resource Assistant may provide potential foster families with support in the DES licensure process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Utilizes the Principals of the “Arizona Vision,” conducts family and individual client assessments as dictated by the program contract and COA regulations.
• Assists in developing and implementing parenting skills, including behavior management techniques.
• Maintains timely progress notes that reflect movement towards client goals and objectives.
• Provides effective crisis management, to include following the program triage protocol and treatment methods, responding in a timely manner, providing for follow-up care, assessing and providing appropriate responses per agency guidelines.
• Provides or arranges for transportation of clients to appointments as necessary.
• Designs “behavioral contracts” with clients and families as necessary.
• Utilizing the Arizona Child and Family Team process, plans for client discharge/termination, including helping the family plan and prepare.
• Completes documentation per contractual and licensure guidelines, including foster parent licensure.
• Assists with educational activities that promote client understanding of treatment issues.
• Links families to community resources.
• Maintains clinical records in a timely manner following COA, contractual and agency standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position.



Skills/Requirements

 REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
 Knowledge of human development and family life cycle in children and families.
 Knowledge of the cultural situations involved with the child and family.
 Knowledge of family therapy and child management techniques from a systems perspective.
 Knowledge of community, social, educational, and recreational resources.
 Must be organized and able to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
 Must be able to participate as a team member, multi-task and prioritize tasks.
 Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
 Must have ability to maintain confidentiality, and exhibit mature judgment and emotional stability.
 Able to work in a variety of settings, including client homes and community venues.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement).
 High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred
 Minimum 2 years experience working in the behavioral health field with children.
 Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy.
 Must be computer literate with knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
 Must be able to provide own transportation to and from clients’ homes and/or other relevant organizations/agencies.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
 Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance.
 Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position.

Mental Requirements
• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language.
• Ability to interact well with various levels of staff and with guests of AzCA.
• Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex information.

Physical Requirements
• Office environment with frequent sitting, standing, writing and computer usage.
• Must be able to climb stairs, with frequent standing and moving throughout facility or in the alternative, perform these physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Frequent to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.).
• Moderate reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching
